He has greatly impressed me… So, should we also consider him in the team traveling to Australia for the T20 World Cup? Sehwag allegedly said something on a Cricbuzz broadcast.

For the T20 World Cup (which will be held in Australia in September-October), Sehwag continued, “If I had to choose the team, I would take him there as a second wicket-keeper-batter.”

Jitesh made the decision to take up cricket after learning that the army tests awarded grace marks to those who participated in state-level sports. His love for the game really blossomed once he was able to join Vidarbha’s U-19 team. Following his outstanding performance during the 2012–13 Cooch Behar Trophy, Jitesh was able to make his way into Vidarbha’s senior team. In 12 innings, the right-hander amassed 537 runs, including two centuries and a fifty.

He made his Vidarbha senior squad debut during the 2013–14 Vijay Hazare Trophy season. He eventually had a respectable bat return. After winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for 2015–16, his career made a dramatic change. With 343 runs, Jitesh ended the competition as the third-highest run scorer. During the same season (2015–16), Jitesh also made his Ranji Trophy debut for Vidarbha. He scored 180 runs in seven games, averaging 18, for an average season.

His aggressive batting approach drew the attention of IPL scouts, winning him a spot with the Mumbai Indians in the toughest cricket league in the world. He was unable to participate in any games, though.

Jitesh kept up his hard work in domestic cricket despite not being able to play in any IPL games. When it seemed as though things for the young cricketer weren’t going as planned, Jitesh made his way to the spotlight during the 2021–22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He smashed 19 sixes during the competition, establishing himself as a finisher during the event. At a strike rate of 235.16, he went on to score 214 runs in 7 innings, including two half centuries.
