Grok is Unveiled by Elon Musk
Prominent businessman Elon Musk created a stir earlier this year when he launched his new company, “xAI,” which is dedicated to the development and study of artificial intelligence technologies. Musk proudly unveiled “Grok,” the first product of xAI, today.
Grok, which means “to understand thoroughly and intuitively” in Greek, is more than just an artificial intelligence assistant. It joins the ranks of other technology, such as Google’s Bard assistant and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but it has a unique personality.
Grok is different from other models, according to Elon Musk, who defined it as an AI with real-time access to information through the đť•Ź platform. He jokingly observed that it had a taste for sarcasm and said, “I have no idea who could have guided it this way.”
Musk stated in an April interview with Tucker Carlson that he intended to create a “maximum-truth-seeking AI.” Does Grok have AI? Maybe — perhaps it’s a first step towards something far greater.
In a tweet on Friday afternoon, Musk was cited as stating, “It (xAI’s new model) is the best that currently exists in some important respects.”
Since the billionaire parted ways with Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever, the co-founders of OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, a few years ago, Musk’s aspirations in AI have expanded. Musk was disenchanted and even hostile with the firm he served on the board of OpenAI as it began to prioritize commercial initiatives above open-source research. More recently, Musk severed the company’s access to X data, claiming that OpenAI was underpaying for the privilege. Musk had resigned from the OpenAI board in 2018.
